Her very first interview....

Last week, on Monday, she received an unexpected call from Uni dot dot while she was crazily doing her overloaded works. The call was for an interview session for a post which she didn't apply for. Well, she did apply to that academy but for a different post. As she was already stressed out with her work, she accepted the offer and rushed back to her parent's the next day [carrying the burden of unsettled worksss she left behind in her mind]. The interview was due the next day and her preparation was nada...zero...yillek. The PIC already informed that there will be a mock teaching during the interview and oh mann had she never teached nor mock in front of people before. She spent her night before the interview preparing a slideshow presentation for the mock teaching after consulting with some dear friends who have been through that moment before this.

THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW

She went early, with her pendrive and a little notebook containing some scripts of expected questions. She went to her friends' office and requested them to do a mock interview for her. She is grateful for their help! She went to the venue told half an hour early, it was lunch time and there were only some staffs in the office and she was led to the waiting area and met another candidate. After some time, a few more candidates came and she felt so small as compared to them who had 12 years experience in teaching, already got phD, already got Masters T_T but everyone were nice and friendly so that killed the inferiority a bit. Not long after that, the PIC came and handed each of them a paper containing a question and they were expected to write an essay in 20 minutes. Her whole body was already starting to dysfunction due to nervousness but still started writing whatever.

Times up. First candidate went in and it took her almost 30 minutes inside the room! [she kat luar dah separuh nyawa terkeluar dah....] When she came out, they were all hovering and asking her what were the questions asked, how was the mock teaching and how many panels were there. The minute she heard 7 panelists altogether, she  died a bit inside.  [a bit dramatic lass she is...I know :p]. The next two candidates went in together and they spent around 40 minutes and afterwards, it was her and another candidate's time to enter the horrifying room.

It started with some self introduction questions where the other candidate seem to have taken the crowd with her fluency and so many things to talk about  [and 'she' was enjoying the talk also..lol]. Both candidates took turn to answer the same questions and later some panelists only asked certain questions to either one or both candidates. All smooth and steady. Then it was the most deadliest moment ever, MOCK TEACHING!

She gave way to the other candidate as she was rushing to BF her cute and patient Ghadah  [ooops kekantoian di situ] and when everything with the other candidate settled and went out, something suddenly possessed her and she was so spirited like no one who knew her would ever believe their eyes! She first requested the panelists to pretend like they were students and thankfully they were so sporting. She started off nice and smoothly, asking them questions, making the 'class' interactive so she wouldn't be membebeling in front while they don't pay attention. The so-called 'students' asked questions [like a LOTTT] and she answered it calmly =_= [DYING INSIDE ACTUALLY] and when the slides finished, one panelist said this to her that actually boosted her self-confidence up to 200%!

>> You have no experience in teaching whatsoever but you were so relaxed and confident in front.  [at this point, she was actually dying out of laughter inside....like seriously? like....me??] but she responded like a boss! [self boasting is sometimes gewdd]. Suddenly there was a new vibe and the panelists kept on asking her questions  [maybe because the first time around she wasn't that persuasive and aggressive :D] and she answered it one by one  [by inside she really hoped it would end quickly as she wanted to catch the bus back to KL]. The interview ended wonderfully alhamdulillah.

Okay cut the drama miss. I had a wonderful time experiencing my first FORMAL interview [interviews sebelum ni lebih leisure and biasa2 je] and my FIRST EVER mock teaching session. To be honest, I'm the anti-social-introvert-type where I didn't enjoy giving presentations but I had to  [study life] but I love anything regarding research and coming up with the slideshows that's why I always volunteered myself to do that and let others do the presenting part. 

But alhamdulillah, this interview opened my eyes and made me realize the potentials in me which I never cared about or even had the guts to give it a try....For sure I still need to improvise here and there but I know how to play the game after this inshaAllah.

Despite all the hectic-ness the day before I returned to my parents's  [endless incoming tasks emails, tak jumpa transcript and degree cert, tak jumpa buku nota time kelas EAP 'which I ended up created my own examples', stress tahap langit ketujuh], alhamdulillah Allah made it easy for me during ze day.

I don't really mind not getting the job  [but, please make du'a for me ^^]  as the experience itself was a total gem for me... Much cherished and made me smile inside the bus whilst returning to my pagal life in KL.

So people, if you think you don't fit for a certain job or whatever, think again! You will never know what you are capable of until you give it a try!

But I am still miss awkward introvert, LOL
